Early years of Maja Servé
I was fortunate to grow up in a family that instilled in me a passion for learning and striving for more. However, I faced two challenges that could have derailed many. Firstly, I couldn’t sit still for long periods. The first note I brought home from school urged my parents to teach me to sit still for more than five minutes. While I wasn’t misbehaving, my constant movement was disruptive. In today’s terms, I might have been diagnosed with ADHD.
The second challenge emerged soon after: dyslexia. Despite these obstacles, my parents cultivated my love for books, reading, and learning. They taught me to turn apparent disadvantages into strengths. This lesson has become a fundamental part of who I am.
Using the Skills Learned...
My parents and grandparents instilled in me the art of rapid learning—a skill I’ve applied across numerous passions. Its true test came when I applied it to learning dance. Starting in 1980, I delved into social and competitive dancing, retiring as a world finalist in the professional ranks by 1992.
In 2008, I challenged myself again by obtaining certification as a Life Coach. Today, I apply this skill on multiple fronts: pursuing becoming a Feng Shui Consultant, a contractor’s license and building websites. Some might label my diverse interests as a lack of focus, but I see it as turning a perceived weakness into strength. I’m grateful to share this ability to learn quickly with many students.
Moving to the United States and meeting Bob Proctor
After moving to the United States, I noticed my students were not learning as quickly as expected, despite my efforts to share the fast-learning skills I developed as a child.
In the late 1990s, I experienced a period of deep personal loss with the deaths of my brother (1996), my mentor Benny Tolmeyer (1997), and my father (1998). This led to a period of depression during which I realized I needed new guidance.
In 1998, a friend introduced me to Bob Proctor, beginning a transformative mentorship that included several meetings that year across the United States. Through his teachings, I learned I was an “unconscious competent” and needed to become aware of how I teach and communicate my knowledge.
His influence reshaped my approach to teaching and coaching, and I continue to apply and share his principles today.
Dance and Life Coaching
This shift profoundly improved my teaching. My students began to progress much faster and results showed the progress. I continued studying with Bob Proctor through annual courses, eventually becoming a certified LifeSuccess Coach in 2008.
His influence reshaped my approach to teaching and coaching, and I continue to apply and share his principles today. I am blessed to have helped many students live their dreams of become national as well as world champions.
Taking Bob's Teachings Outside of the Danceworld...
Teaching Children
In 2008, I was approached to assist children labeled with ADHD who were struggling in school. It was remarkable to witness how Bob’s teachings proved equally beneficial to these incredible children as they had been to my dance students. Today, many of them have attained high levels of education and lead successful lives.
Teaching Adults
Teaching children was both enjoyable and challenging, as their minds were like open cups, ready to absorb new ideas. However, I was uncertain how Bob’s teachings would resonate with adults who already had a cup full of ingrained programming. Much to my surprise, his teachings proved just as effective with adults as they had been with children.
Witnessing students change their life trajectory and embark on a new path towards a better life was truly miraculous. I am forever thankful for all the lessons Bob imparted to me, and I am committed to honoring him by sharing his teachings with the world.
Business Coaching and Funding
During and after Covid-19, I found that my business changed. Many of my athletes’ students were no longer competing.
The way of doing business changed overnight and many businesses were not prepared for this pushed upon them change. Business had to learn to deal with the new business environment and a new way of connecting with their customers.
Helping business discover new ways and different plans was great experience. I have been fortunate to have businesses seeking my help to reinvent themselves and their way to promote their business.
The last few years I see one common factor that business needs help with and that is the issue of funding. Many Mom and Pop Businesses are dealing with financial issues that stops them from expanding, growing and just doing the business they are good at. I found that having a solution for those businesses became big focus for me. So today my main focus for businesses is to help them have working capital.
My new mentor is Mary Morriessy
All of my mentors, including my grandfather, my dance father, and Bob Proctor have always encouraged me to have a mentor on my team. It is always good to have somebody in your corner and to hold you dream while it is still appearing as a farfetched dream to you. After Bob’s passing I missed one such mentor. I wanted somebody that would respect the training I got from Bob and was able to build on that training. I went through a big change in life, and I was able to spend time focusing on me again. I asked for guidance and within a few hours a person appeared. Bob had mentioned a couple of times that if I needed another mentor this person would be a good choice and now here, she was. I am now fortunate to be training with Mary Morrissey and the Brave Thinking Institute. I am grateful that I have found Mary and the BTI team and I am looking forward to adding her teachings to that of Bob Proctor’s .
